3 Tips to get a relaxed State of mind
Here are three tips you can practice to get a relaxed state of mind. These three tips are coming out from my personal experience.
This is way back in 2009 when I was suffering from Depression. I was on sleeping pills and antidepressants. This medicine obviously provided me immediate relief but my hallucinations did not go away with the pills. At that time my lifestyle issues just started. By 2012, because of stress and depression, I had invited many lifestyle diseases like COPD, PCOD, Fibromyalgia, etc. into my life. The situation was so bad that more than half of my day was going to bed. Because of so many issues, I had to give up my career as well.
That was the time I decided to get back up and recover my health. I joined a freelancing teaching assignment where I was teaching MBA students. This helped me to concentrate on important things rather than the useless analysis which was going on in my mind for very long. Post that I framed some strategies to follow in my life which were very helpful for me to recover. But I would like to share three strategies that played a big role.
These were:
- Mindfulness
- Calcium and magnesium intake
- Stop paralysis of analysis
I started observing nature and my surroundings which diverted my attention to the beauty around me rather than the negativity. I also practiced mindful meditation to get good results. Mindfulness means being fully aware of ourselves and what we are doing rather than being reactive to situations around us. It basically stresses enjoying your present.
The second strategy was calcium and magnesium intake. First I increased my intake of calcium in my diet. There are many foods you can opt for. I opted for paneer and green leafy vegetables. Apart from that I started having flax seeds and chia seeds in my diet. Post that I supplemented my diet with a calcium and magnesium supplement. These changes in my diet also helped me to get rid of my kidney stones.
The third thing I did was to work on my personality. I used to be a very analytical person who would always analyze any given situation to an extreme. If any disagreements or conflicts happened, I always used to think about what, why, and how of that conflict and the person’s behavior for many hours and days. This is called paralysis of analysis. This habit was the major cause of my stress. I started working on not thinking about any conflict that happened in my life.
Now implementing these strategies regularly, obviously took time and patience which I had to invest as I didn’t have any other option to implement. I wanted to share these strategies with you because I feel there might be many people who might be suffering from the same kind of issues.
My only advice is to be patient while working on yourself. Great, so wish you the best of your health!
